Il Dr. Ciro Cattuto del ISI (Institute for Scientific Interchange Foundation) di Torino, terrà un seminario sul tema:
"Social information processing on the web"
Modern web applications for organizing and sharing data are open-ended, dynamically evolving, collaborative, and therefore intrinsically social. Collaborative tagging systems, in particular, expose previously unexplored interactions between users and the information they process, as well as interactions among the users themselves. We analyze experimental data from a few popular systems and discuss some stylized facts, showing that the uncoordinated activity of users produces striking statistical regularities and activity patterns. We show that simple stochastic processes are relevant to model some of these regularities. Finally, we describe the network structure of tagging systems and show that graph properties can be used to detect non-social behavior and to infer semantic relations.
