Luca Gammaitoni meets with Gouhei Tanaka at the Institute of Industrial Science, University of Tokyo for discussing the research on bio inspired computation. Prof. Tanaka is conducting research in collaboration with IBM Japan to explore energy efficiency in bio inspired computation: a novel computing paradigm that exploits neural networks in order to apply biological principles.

On March 2nd they organize the 2nd Workshop on Bio-inspired Energy-Efficient Information Systems
This is organized in the framework of the Next Generation Nano-Micro Devices and Systems for Energy-Efficient Information Processing Division of Institute for Innovation in International Engineering Education (IIIEE) that was founded in 2012 as a part of social cooperation program with IBM Japan, Ltd. to provide solutions towards realization of energy-efficient and sustainable society through basic research on energy-efficient information processing utilizing nano-/micro-device technologies and education of graduate students of related areas.
