The Noise in Physical System Laboratory is glad to announce the tenth edition of NiPS Summer School devoted to the topics of Energy harvesting and Computing performances.

The school is open to graduate students, post-docs, young researchers, and in general to all scientists interested in the physical foundations and practical applications of energy transformations at micro and nanoscales.

This year the school will be organized in two parallel tracks:

How to apply

2) You will receive by email a confirmation of admission with instructions for the payment of the registration fee.

3) After the payment your registration is completed and you will receive an invoice.

Please notice that school attendance is limited and the participation will be assessed on a first-come/first-serve basis, subjected to acceptance from the Organizing Committee.

Students can apply for a scholarship. The allocation and amount of scholarships are at the discretion of the organizing committee, according to financial availability.

The registration fee includes: 6 coffee breaks, 4 lunches and  the social dinner. Moreover, a programmed excursion is included.

Early registration (until 30 June 2019): 450 €

Late registration (from 1 July 2019):  600 €

Social Event

The Social Event will take place Wednesday the 4th of September: it is foreseen a guided visit in the wonderful Basilica of S.Francesco, a complex of two churches (the lower and the upper) built in 1228-1253, one of the greater manifestations of Italian medieval art, inspired by the glory of the Saint of Assisi, and decorated by the most important Italian painters of the 1200-1300s: Cimabue, Giotto, the Lorenzetti Brothers and Simone Martini. In the lower Basilica the mortal remains of S. Francesco are held in a rough stone urn.

After the guided visit you will be free to walk through the ancient alleys of the city, until the dinner time.

The social dinner will take place in a restaurant near the historical village, with a breathtaking view on the city.


Poster sessions

Participants will have the opportunity to present their work at a poster session, through a poster and with a “Flash presentation”. Posters will be displayed during all days of the school.

Posters should be A0 in size and preferably of portrait orientation.


Venue

NiPS Summer School 2019 is held at the Hotel Giò in Perugia, Italy.

The Summer school is scheduled to start on September 3th. Lectures will start on September 3th at 9:00.

For a detailed program, please see the specific track of the school you are interested in.

Lectures will run on mornings and afternoons from 9:00 to 18:00. On September 4th at 15:00 it is foreseen a touristic guided excursion through the beatiful and ancient village of Assisi and, following, the social dinner in a special location.
Accompanying persons are welcome to the summer school. Touristic attractions and cultural events, will be running in Perugia during the summer school days and are located at walking distance from the school site.


How to reach Perugia

  • By Air
    The closest airport to Perugia is the San Francesco airport located at 15 min drive.
    Central Italy’s closest major airports are in RomePisa, and Florence. These can be easily reached by train, bus or car.
    The major international gateway is Rome’s Aeroporto Leonardo da Vinci, known as Fiumicino (FCO) (30 km/19 mi southwest of Rome).
    Pisa’s Aeroporto Galileo Galilei (PSA) (12 km/7 mi south of Pisa and 80 km (50 mi) west of Florence) has flights from London, Amsterdam, Brussels, and Paris)
    Florence’s Aeroporto A. Vespucci, known as Peretola (FLR) (10 km/6 mi northwest of Florence), has connections to Brussels, Paris, London, Rome, and Milan.

Previous editions of NiPS Summer School have seen in nine years the participation of around 350 students and young researchers from all over the world.
